After a weekend filled with too many Tostitos& a Sunday dinner of movie popcorn (sorry mom) I was thrilled to greet my bowl of oats& almond butter come Monday morning. Part of my relationship with fitness is giving myself the ability to indulge here and there, but this past weekend left me feeling lethargic.
(I WAS super proud of myself on Sunday- Danny also ordered a possibly 18 dollar diet coke at the movies and whispered “if you need a sip- I won’t tell anyone..” but i RESISTED the urge and instead let the salt dry out my mouth.)
Post-work last night I planned on hitting the gym for some cardio, but decided to spring for a “Warm Yoga” class at a local studio instead. I actually took the class on Friday as well, and enjoyed it so much that my body again craved the stretch last night. I wanted to bump it up and attend the hot class, but didn’t get out of the restaurant in time.
I think Warm Yoga is perfect for me right now. I enjoy the challenge of the hot class (it is more advanced) but I don’t know the names of poses well enough and end up gazing around the room to mimic others rather than feeling the poses and listening on my own as I can do in Warm Yoga.
I think I’m in LOVE.
As a former gymnast, I love to stretch and strengthen. I am catching on quickly, and in a strange way it almost feels natural to be twisted like a pretzel.
Although I wish i could do yoga all day everyday, I DID sign up for a race- the Townebank 8k: it’s next weekend! That means today’s workout: a long run outside, for sure.
You go girl! Way to stay strong against that soda!
Wow, I wish it felt natural to me to be twisted in a pretzel, haha! My body is so inflexible that it’s ridiculous, haha!
Aww! Maybe with some practice!? THANKS! I’m trying, every day I think about soda less and less.
congrats on signing up for another race! That’s awesome! I love how refreshed I feel after a warm/hot yoga class. I haven’t been in a while and I definitely miss that feeling. I agree that I think I enjoy the warm classes better most of the time. Sometimes the hot yoga classes are a bit too much especially after running a lot!
Agreed! I think I become too lost and waste too much time figuring out what I am supposed to be doing, rather than actually DOING it!
Congrats on signing up for the race!
Thanks! I am so excited! It is 3.7 miles shorter than my last race, so hopefully it won’t be too rough đŸ˜€
